ABOUT THIS ITEM
Product Details
A 70/30 starting blend — Coconut coir and horticultural perlite are supplied together in a 70/30 formulation. Hydrate fully and mix evenly before filling your pots or growing containers.
Four separate portions — The pack contains four 650g portions, each producing approximately 8 litres. Prepare one or several for your project and keep the remaining portions dry.
Structure around the roots — Perlite contributes to an open growing mix alongside moisture-retentive coir. Container depth, particle distribution and packing all affect air space and drainage.
Hydrate, loosen, redistribute — Add water according to the pack and allow the coir to expand. Loosen compacted areas, then gently redistribute the perlite so the mix is consistent throughout.
Provide balanced nutrition — Neither the blend ratio nor perlite provides a complete feeding programme. Choose suitable nutrients for your crop, water supply and stage of plant development.
Water to the plant’s needs — Check moisture within the container and let surplus water drain. Adjust irrigation as plants establish and weather changes, rather than following a fixed calendar.

How to use
Prepare, use and care for your substrate.
1Choose your batch
Select one or more 650g portions. Allow room for approximately 8 litres of expanded mix per portion.
2Hydrate
Add water gradually following the pack instructions. Allow the coir to absorb moisture and expand.
3Mix evenly
Loosen the hydrated coir and gently distribute perlite throughout. Avoid compacting the blend.
4Fill and plant
Fill a suitable container with drainage holes. Plant at the correct depth and water in.
5Feed and monitor
Provide crop-appropriate nutrients and check root-zone moisture regularly as plants grow.
PRACTICAL PREPARATION
Handling & storage
-
Choose a manageable portion
Each dry portion weighs 650g. Hydrate only what you need and move the heavier, wet mix in smaller amounts.
-
Prepare within reach
Use a stable tub and work surface. Keep tools close by and handle dry material gently to minimise dust.
-
Store unused portions dry
Protect remaining compressed portions from moisture until your next planting session. Keep the label for reference.

Product FAQ
What does 70/30 mean?
It describes the supplied formulation: 70% coco coir and 30% horticultural perlite. It does not mean the finished pot has 30% air space; pore space depends on several physical factors.
Does each portion make 10 litres?
No. For this coir-perlite product, each 650g portion makes approximately 8 litres. The four-portion pack produces around 32 litres in total.
Do I need to add more perlite?
The product already contains perlite. Use the supplied blend where suitable, or adjust only where your crop and growing system require a different structure.
Is it ready to use straight from the pack?
Hydrate the compressed material first, following the pack directions. Loosen fully and redistribute the perlite throughout before filling pots.
Will the mix feed my plants?
Use a separate, balanced feeding programme appropriate to the crop. Perlite is a mineral component used for structure, not a complete source of plant nutrition.
Can I use it in a hydroponic system?
It can suit container systems designed for coir-perlite media. Check your equipment requirements, drainage and feed strategy; the blend is not suitable for every hydroponic method.
