ABOUT THIS ITEM
Product Details
One brick. Around 10L. — This pack contains one compressed 650g brick, making approximately 10 litres after hydration. A practical size for a few pots or a smaller planting project.
Washed coconut coir — Made from coconut husk and washed to reduce soluble salts. Washing differs from calcium buffering; choose the treatment required by your plants and growing system.
Adapt your planting mix — Use in suitable pot and basket blends. Add coarse coir chips or other components where needed, matching the structure to the plant, pot and watering routine.
Hydrate and loosen fully — Place the brick in a tub with room for expansion. Follow the pack directions, add water gradually and loosen thoroughly so no dry, compressed core remains.
Plan a suitable feed — Coir is a growing-medium base rather than a complete fertiliser programme. Select plant nutrition for the crop and growth stage, following the feed label.
Prepare close to the pots — Store the dry brick away from moisture until needed. Hydrate near your work area and transfer the expanded coir in portions that are comfortable to handle.

PRACTICAL PREPARATION
Handling & storage
-
Start with a smaller batch
The dry brick weighs 650g. Expanded coir is heavier, so move it in portions that suit your strength and reach.
-
Work at a comfortable height
Place your tub on a stable surface with tools and water within reach. Children can help with adult supervision.
-
Keep storage simple
Store the unhydrated brick dry and sheltered. Protect prepared coir from contamination until you use it.

Product FAQ
Is this one brick or a multipack?
This product is one 650g brick. It makes approximately 10 litres after hydration. Choose the separate six-brick product if you need a multipack.
How much water should I add?
Follow the directions on the pack and add water gradually. Allow time for expansion, then loosen thoroughly until there are no dry compacted areas.
Is the brick already buffered?
This is sold as washed coir. Washing and calcium buffering are different processes. If your growing system requires buffered coir, select a product specified for that purpose.
Do I need fertiliser?
Plan a separate feed suited to your plants and their growth stage. Coir forms the growing-medium base; it does not replace a complete nutrition programme.
Can I mix it with coir chips?
Yes, where a coarser structure suits the plant. Mix evenly and choose the balance around the container and watering routine; there is no universal blend for all plants.
Can I use it for a school planting project?
The small brick format can suit supervised activities. An adult should manage preparation, tools and water. Avoid breathing growing-media dust and wash hands after handling.
