COIROLOGY · HORTICULTURAL TRIALS
Evidence before your next product decision.
Compare substrates, treatments and horticultural products through a defined growing trial. Receive findings, limitations and a practical next-step recommendation.
Choose the objective your next decision needs. Trial location and delivery responsibilities are agreed separately.
Screen candidate blends or treatments before committing to a larger programme.
Compare your product with a control or benchmark under a defined protocol.
Evaluate a shortlisted option in a relevant growing system before wider adoption.
A focused programme around your product, crop and research question.
Coir, peat-free blends and propagation media; compare formulations or components.
Fertilisers, micronutrients and application rates or feeding programmes.
Mycorrhizae, beneficial microorganisms and biostimulant treatments.
Germination, seedling establishment and planting-media compatibility.
Irrigation strategies, containers, sensors and root-zone technologies.
A defined question, relevant comparison and practical interpretation.
Start with the question your next product decision needs to answer.
Agree controls, treatments, replication and allocation to address variation in growing conditions.
Report methods, observations, uncertainty and limitations alongside the recommended next step.
The protocol records the experimental unit, replication, randomisation or blocking where appropriate, and the analysis plan.
Agree the decision and scope.
Set out an appropriate protocol.
Record agreed observations.
Analyse comparisons and limits.
Present findings and next steps.
Agree materials, site management, measurement responsibilities and reporting before the trial.
The location is agreed around the crop, question and project requirements. Suitable work can use commercially rented greenhouse space at the University of Reading, subject to availability. Your proposal identifies Coirology’s responsibilities and any external support. Facility access does not imply University endorsement or a research partnership.
Measurements and timing are agreed before the trial; every project does not require every test.
Germination, survival, plant height and canopy development.
Root distribution, condition and biomass where included.
Harvest quantity and agreed quality traits, where relevant to the crop.
Substrate moisture, irrigation input and drainage response.
pH, EC and selected nutrient measurements using agreed methods.
Repeat photography and structured observations over time.
An illustrative dashboard shows how agreed measurements and comparisons can be presented. No trial results are supplied here.

Illustrative reporting format only. Dashes indicate that no measured values are supplied; they do not mean zero. Conclusions depend on the completed trial and its limitations.
Receive the protocol, agreed observations, analysis, photographs, limitations and review discussion. Raw-data provision, ownership, confidentiality and permission to use results are agreed before work starts.

Manufacturing & SupplySTART A CONVERSATION
Tell us what you want to compare, the crop involved and the decision you need the trial to inform.
Crop duration, treatments, replication, sites and specialist measurements determine the scope. We agree responsibilities, data arrangements, timing and costs before work begins.
